– Dr. Alfi Rahman, a distinguished expert in disaster management for community resilience and a member of the Research Center for Social and Cultural Studies (PRISB), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), took a role as a contributor at the commencement of preparations for the 10th World Water Forum, a pivotal event in the world’s water calendar. Held biennially, this forum brings together a diverse array of stakeholders committed to addressing water-related challenges. Organized jointly by the World Water Council and the Republic of Indonesia, the 10th edition of the World Water Forum is scheduled to convene from May 18 to 24, 2024, in Bali, Indonesia.

The recently concluded Kick-off Meeting, held on February 15 and 16, 2023, marked the initiation of the Forum’s preparatory phase, providing participants with essential insights into the framework and how to actively engage in the Forum process over the next year and a half leading up to the main event.

The Kick-off Meeting, also serving as the 1st stakeholders meeting, created a platform for the sharing of thematic, regional, and political priorities on a global scale. Participants engaged in discussions aimed at shaping the Forum’s themes, regional focus, and political agenda. This collaborative approach ensures that each participant has the opportunity to present tangible solutions to address imminent water challenges, whether they are local, regional, or global in scope.
